It snowed today. The skies were overcast, the wind blustery, the air crisp against the cheeks. Reminiscent of the Michigan Winters of old, it was comforting, familiar. Being born here, it's difficult for me to imagine what life must be like where there are no seasons, no transitions. Sometimes I think that in living here, we are conditioned to accept chaos as the norm, and that change is to be expected.
As I clomped through the slush from one class to the next, I was pleasantly amused at how many snow flakes managed to find their way into my nose, and when I say "into," what I mean is all the way back into my throat. Quite a strange sensation really, to have a tiny frozen particle deposit itself inside your head. Of course, my mind began to wander, as one's mind does when walking for miles and miles, and I was struck by an odd thought.
Snowflakes are like ideas.
Just as we put one foot in front of the other in order to reach a destination, we travel through our lives, weathering the storms, and musing over the unexpected. During our journey, we encounter many ideas floating past us like snowflakes on the wind. Most of them rush by, some of them land on top of our heads, and a precious few actually make it all the way inside, where they quickly melt, and become part of us.

This is one of those times where I should just enjoy the post and move on. I can't help but letting you know I enjoyed the post.
Isn't that interesting - we had a snowstorm all day yesterday and it's piled up everywhere.
Great post Dave.
I kinda wish we had a few LESS "thoughts" flying around here in Michigan though...haha.
I caught a few huge snowflakes in my eye today. However, it didn't give me quite the same poetic reaction. It is a beautiful metaphor.
Cooper,
Aw, thanks! :)
James,
I wonder if we are on similar latitudes now?
Alicia,
I can't believe I'm hearing this from my Michigan sister!! Lol.
Nelson,
